Great course.. West is tighter but both E/W courese are worthy.

Played here 9-17-09 while visiting from out of state. Paid $35, which included a lunch special: a reasonable price for the caliber of course (and food).

White Pines has 2 18-hole layouts, and I played East. Course is OK, nothing too dramatic, and nothing too adverse. Mature trees line most fairways, so one does need to be hitting it fairly straight. Not much elevation change, but where it exists, it's well used. Some water, including a creek meandering through the property.

As I write this on 9-30-09, I can only remember one hole on the course (a par 3 I managed to birdie), so there isn't anything especially thrilling about the layout. The course is walkable.

The clubhouse and pro shop are sizable, but there is an atmosphere of "volume golf" in the latter, without too much personality. Same with the starter. Never saw a ranger, so no comment there. The snack bar, on the other hand, was staffed by some very nice ladies who did everything they could to extend a welcome. And, I also never saw a white pine (or at least, I didn;t recongmize one)...lots of oaks, sycamores, spruce and a few others, but it strikes me that there weren't many of the namesake trees. I would give the course a positive reccomendation, but I am sure there are other munis in the area that are somewhat better (the Links of Gen Ellyn, for example.
